As prime contractor, CNES was responsible for:


Satellite
Since SPOT 2, Astrium has acted as satellite prime contractor with responsibility for satellite integration.
Alcatel Space was prime contractor for the image processing subassembly.
Astrium was prime contractor for the bus and HRG and HRS instruments.
CNES supplied the VEGETATION and DORIS passenger payloads and delivered them to the satellite prime contractor.
Manufacturers involved in satellite development

Satellite operations ground segment (SSOS)
Prime contractor: CNES

CS-SI and Astrium developed the satellite control centre.
Cap Gemini developed the image quality centre.

Space Bell (Belgium) developed the payload management centre.

Commercial operations ground segment (SSOC)
Prime contractor: Spot Image
MS&I developed the archive and preprocessing centre (CAP). CNES was prime contractor.
Cap Gemini developed the mission programming centre. Again, CNES was prime contractor.
Spot Image was prime contractor responsible for development of customer interface functions.

The following CNES subsidiaries also contributed to the development of the SPOT 5 system:

- ARIANESPACE, for the Ariane 4 launch service;
- CLS, as operator of the DORIS system;
- SCOT, providing consultancy services for downstream research and promotion of the HRG/HRS and VEGETATION systems.
